summer's solstice in NM
We commenced the anniversary of our 21st year together early in the morning. We left our wonderful temporary home in Taos, NM for a magical journey through desert, mountain conifer forests, through lush river valleys, then back to the desert. Once parked, we visited amazing ruins at Aztec, NM. We finished our day about sundown with a quiet walk along the swift waters of the San Juan River, near which we parked our wheeled abode. Not a bad beginning for year 22.

Taos magic....better!
After two days in the magic light of Taos, we have somewhat renewed our outlooks and lightened our spirits. We are thinking we are now up to the task of continuing on our journey. If I can ever figure the system from the mobile device, I will include some special photos from this very beautiful place. There truly is a reason that those with artistic bents and creative complusions are drawn to this place. I understand why folks come to vacation and just never leave. The true wonder is that it is not more crowded. It manages a small town feeling.....amazing. I love this place!
black magic continues....
Heat past, we made it to Santa Fe. We looked for a camping spot and discovered the RV sites were full where we intended to stay. We went up the mountain looking for a stopping place. We tried one site to no avail and were looking for another with the ranger's help when we failed to negotiate a turn appropriately. We ended up against a tree, a rock, and a ditch. With a little help from our ranger, we made it to the road, but it ate our fresh water tank in the process.
Next we had to get down the mountain to a safe place to wait for the guy who promised to get the RV back on the road. What do you think? He was true to his advertising and about 2 1/2 hours later, we were cruising down the mountain with a "park model". This means that until we get to a repair, we have to have water hook-ups. The good news, we are still on our way!!!

when the magic is black...
After a fair beginning to our journey, things. changed as we got to Palo Duro Canyon. It was a beautiful setting for the heat wave that followed. Unfortunately, it seems there was insufficient electricity for all. Our AC kept kicking the breaker. We investigated with dealers and decided we had a faulty breaker. Off we went to search for another. Two cities later, We found one. Came back to discover it was not the old style we had.
Back to town.... hours later we hoped the problem dead solved. Not so. The unit would however work at night, cool huh? Next day we sought a different solution. Again we were foiled. Spent a VERY hot day....110 degrees in the shade! The sun finally set and we again enjoyed AC. How spoiled we are!!!!
